Summer in St. Louis

is here.

“Beat the heat always meant other things in the summertime. Those pops in July made us jump differently. Because our hearts thump to the rhythm of, “make it home safely.” Soundly. My friends want to sleep soundly.”

Listen to St. Louis Public Radio/ NPR interview with Cami Thomas and Sarah Fenske Below

Summer in St. Louis is a digital short directed by Cami Thomas, DPd by Papa Blankson and edited by Jazzy Kettenacker.

Coming off of the transformative years of 2020 and 2021, this digital piece uses St. Louis as the backdrop of a story of community, love, and impending revolution. The poem that narrates the piece (written by Cami Thomas and read by Mvstermind, Nyara Williams, and Richard Mansfield IV) talks of life in a city that draws its reputation from love of community, and the constant narrow avoidance of danger.
